Five communities in the black forest are now allergy-friendly

Tuesday, 13. December 2011

The first holiday area in Germany awarded the ECARF Seal of Quality is the „Black Forest Holiday Region“association of local authorities. The participating municipal authorities are Triberg, Schonach, Schönwald, Furtwangen and St. Georgen.

In total 50 service providers from all five local authorities in the association are involved in the realisation of this project for an allergy-friendly holiday region. Their services now fulfil the criteria of the Foundation, taking into account the needs and wishes of allergy sufferers.

„Our holiday region now has an improved tourist infrastructure for guests with allergies. The ECARF Seal of Quality offers allergy sufferers a new and reliable method of orientation”, said Stefan Schürlein, manager of the „ Black Forest Holiday Region“ association.

The local authorities taking part in the holiday area association have focused on allergies caused by house dust, animal hair and some foods. Allergy-friendly products and services are labelled with the ECARF seal and are therefore easy to recognise.

Professor Dr. med. Torsten Zuberbier, Head of the European Centre for Allergy Research Foundation said, „30 percent of Europeans have an allergy. It is our aim to create a better quality of life for them, even when they are on holiday. The ‚ Black Forest Holiday Region‘ is an allergy-friendly model for other local authorities with strong tourist business.
